Rev. Dr. Timothy L. Smith
Water from Rock Ministries’ founder and director, Rev. Dr. Timothy L. Smith is dedicated toward helping churches, clergy and lay people in their longing for spiritual depth and growth toward a more intimate relationship with God. During 35 years of ministering to people as a pastor, chaplain, spiritual director, and retreat leader, he has witnessed the need for a soul care and renewal ministry that focuses on the integration of head and heart, of faith and walk.
After graduation from Dallas Theological Seminary, Tim has spent 27 years in pastoral ministry, eight years in chaplaincy ministry, and, concurrently, nine years as a spiritual director. During this time period, in 2001, Tim received a Doctor of Ministry from Phoenix Seminary, and Certificate of Spiritual Direction from Kino Institute of Theology in 2000.
Tim also serves as an Adjunct Seminary professor, retreat leader, guest preacher, and Bible study leader. Some of his most recent projects and assignments, besides founding Water from Rock, include development of “The Liminal Zone” workshop, founding member of Arizona Ecumenical Institute for Spiritual Direction, Guest Chaplain at the United States Senate and House of Representatives, Community speaker on Death & Dying and End of Life issues, and Supervisor for Christian Education and Direction Ministries.
