Water from Rock Ministries, Inc.

We are a spiritually thirsty people. Gallup surveys of Americans reveal that 82% of Americans say they “experience in their lives a need for spiritual growth.” To this end, Water from Rock Ministries, Inc. was founded to meet that need of people who want to experience a greater intimacy with God and transformation of life.

Throughout his 35 years of ministering to people as a pastor, chaplain (hospice, hospital, prison), spiritual director, and retreat leader, the Rev. Dr. Timothy L. Smith, founder and director of Water from Rock,  has seen the urgent need to provide a supportive resource for churches, clergy, and lay people in their longing for spiritual depth and growth.

Tim has come to call this a Soul Care and Renewal Ministry, which vision comes from the Hebrew Scriptures, where the word “soul” (nephesh) is a metaphor for the neck. Symbolically, the ancient Hebrews understood the soul as that part of the person which, like the neck, connects the head and heart: integrating the way we think with the way we live out that thinking. We are asking how our Biblical faith is continually renewed as we experience an everyday world of chaos, grief and loss, broken relationships, addictions, illness, life transition, and vocation.

Who we are: a non-profit ministry which seeks to help renew and deepen a faith walk with God in integrating head and heart based on Biblical principles and witness.

What we do: provide classes, retreats, workshops, tours, conferences, and spiritual resources which aim at linking Christ centered  theology (’head’) with a lived experience of God (’heart’).

How do we do it: * two spiritually oriented classes every Tuesday, 11 – 12:00noon and 7:00 – 8:00pm. No charge! Walk-ins welcome!

Where do we do it: at the scenic campus of The Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 E Lincoln Dr., Scottsdale, Arizona  85253; we meet in Piper Hall.
